Product Overview

The MSK-AFA-III is a series of compact cast coaters for the preparation of a wide range of films with guaranteed film uniformity. The unique drive system drives the adjustable squeegee to move evenly and smoothly to prepare films of various materials. The fixing of the film substrate is carried out by vacuum suction cups, which allow the substrate to be fixed flatly on the aluminum suction cups. The machine is equipped with a squeegee with a width of 150 mm, and the gap between the squeegee and the substrate can be adjusted by means of a micrometer. The machine can be heated from the top or from the bottom to dry the coated wet film up to a maximum temperature of 120°C with an accuracy of +1°C. The machine is particularly suitable for the preparation of batteries. This machine is especially suitable for the preparation of battery electrode films, various ceramic films and polymer films.

Coating Area

Standard configuration: 350mm(L)*150mm(W), coating width is determined by the configuration of the squeegee, standard with a 150mm width squeegee.

Suggested maximum coating area: 350mm(L)*180mm(W), to avoid overflowing the vacuum chuck.

Coating length: 10-350mm (adjustable by positioning knob).

 

Vacuum Suction Cup

Vacuum suction cups are made of aluminum alloy with <1mm holes.

Vacuum chuck size: 365mm(L)*200mm(W)

Note: A glass plate is standard in the equipment, which can be used to apply paste on the porous substrate.

 

 

Adjustable Squeegee

1 x 150mm width squeegee, the gap between squeegee and substrate can be adjusted from 0.01-3.5mm.

Optional fixed thickness film maker for film thicknesses of less than 10 um (Fig. 1).

Equipped with a pusher and a waste tray (Fig. 2, Fig. 3).

Various widths of squeegees are available as options.

Note: The thickness of film prepared by the labeled configuration is generally ≥10um.

 

Vacuum Pump (optional)

Vacuum pump is not included in the standard equipment, optional vacuum pump can be used for adsorption and fixation of substrates.

Optionally available is an oil-free dry pump with a pumping speed of 120L/min.

 

 

Vacuum Pump Connection

The vacuum pump on/off control is located on the front panel of the coater and the vacuum pump power jack is located at the rear of the coater.

The vacuum pump is connected to the coater via an 8mm OD hose (as shown below), which is supplied as standard with the unit.

Application Notes

1. Figures 1 and 2 show cathode and anode coating for lithium ion batteries.

2. It is recommended that the coater be operated in a fume hood (Fig. 3) for easy removal of evaporated solvents.

3. You may need a vacuum mixer for slurry mixing. By mixing the slurry in a vacuum environment, the coated slurry will not generate air bubbles and will spread evenly and flatly (Fig. 4).

4. You may need a viscometer to measure the viscosity of the slurry (Fig. 5).

5. You may need a mixer (extrusion coating and cast coating) for extrusion coating (Fig. 6).
